FAQ

What is a dental savings plan?

Dental savings plans are an affordable alternative to dental insurance. With a Careington dental savings plan, you can save 20%-50% on participating dentist and dental specialists regular fees. If your employer doesn’t provide dental insurance, you are self-employed or retired, or you are uninsured – and especially if you need expensive dental care procedures like root canals, crowns, braces or a bridge ASAP – consider joining a dental savings plan.

How does a dental savings plan work?

Thousands of dentists and dental specialists nationwide have agreed to provide reduced rates to Careington dental savings plan members. When you get dental care from a participating provider, you simply pay the discounted rate directly to the dentist or specialist.

Do I receive discounts if I see an out of network dentist?

No. You must see a participating dentist to receive the discounts associated with your dental savings plan. You can see any participating provider, and you can switch providers at any time, whether you’re travelling and have a dental emergency or simply want to start seeing a different dentist.

Is a background or credit check required to join dental savings plan?

No. Everyone is welcome to join a dental savings plan.

How soon can I use my Careington dental savings plan?

Typically, you can use your plan within 72 hours of joining.

Is there a waiting period before I get discounts on some types of dental procedures?

Unlike traditional dental insurance, there is no waiting period before you can save on any of the treatments included in your Careington dental savings plan, even the more complex and costly procedures such as root canals, crowns or bridges. With insurance, you’ll usually have to wait 6-12 months before you qualify for savings on these treatments!

Is there a maximum annual spending limit with a Careington dental savings plan?

You can use your plan to save at the dentist as often as needed, there is no annual spending limit! Dental insurance typically has an annual limit of $1000-$1500, which is fine for preventive care and the occasional basic treatment like a filling. But for those who need expensive and/or extensive dental treatments – including braces, root canals and crowns, dentures, and dental implants – a dental savings plan is the way to go.

If I already have dental health issues, can I still save on treatment costs with a Careington plan?

Yes, you can! You get the same discounts on all the same procedures as any other plan member.

Can I use a dental savings plan with my current dental insurance?

Check your insurance plan’s rules. In many cases, you can use your Careington dental savings plan to reduce your out-of-pocket dental care costs after you exceed the maximum spending limit on your dental insurance plan. You cannot use your dental insurance and your dental savings plan for the same procedure.

I’m on Medicare, can I use a dental savings plan?

Original Medicare doesn’t cover dental, so you can use a dental savings plan to reduce your dental care costs. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan that includes dental, as noted above, you may be able to use your Careington dental savings plan to reduce costs only after you exceed the maximum spending limit on your dental insurance plan. You cannot use your dental insurance and your dental savings plan for the same procedure. Check with your Medicare Advantage plan provider for details.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

Yes, we have a 30-day money back guarantee. And if you are ever unhappy with your plan, we’ll do our very best to make it right.

How do I know what Careington dental savings plan is best for me?

The best way to choose a dental savings plan is to ask your dentist which Careington plans they accept and which one best fits your oral health needs. Or choose the Careington dental savings plan that offers the biggest savings on the treatments you need, and the additional savings options (like vision care) that you’ll use.
